Hey there, I’m Jim Stalker, and I write about the complexities of our modern lives, focusing on what’s genuinely worthwhile. I’m pretty wary of those smooth-talkers selling killer abs, peace of mind, and unlimited success, all while reaching for your wallet. I believe that real change takes time, effort, and it’s tough – I know because that’s how it’s been for me.

A bit About Me

I’m not just a writer; I’m a seasoned communicator and thinker. With a Master’s in Communication and a Bachelor’s in Philosophy, I love diving deep into ideas and bringing back some treasures. My 30-plus years in sales have honed my skills in persuasion, which I bring to my writing.

I’ve covered a lot of ground in over 300 blog posts, discussing everything from happiness and connections to epistemology, family dynamics, and living creatively. As a music and movie buff (I was in a band in college and studied film at UCSB), I also share my takes on these passions.

Health and mind-body integration are close to my heart. Growing up in a dysfunctional family led me to explore recovery paths, including twelve-step programs and therapy. I’ve learned a lot about ADHD, meditation, and the importance of mindfulness.

My Transformation

Recently, I had an eye-opener. I realized that my long-term sales job, which I never consciously chose, was part of my unhappiness. Reflecting on how I ended up here and why I missed so many chances to change, especially during the COVID era, has been a game-changer. This introspection and my desire for meaningful work have set me on a quest for inner peace. I’m currently working on “Escape from Misery,” a book about my personal journey and the joy of following one’s true passions.

My diverse experiences, from professional achievements to personal growth and a drive to make a positive impact, shape who I am. I’m committed to excellence, both in my personal and professional life, and I’m excited to share my journey and insights with you.
